Kate returns to work after announcing end of chemotherapy

The Princess of Wales has returned to work at Windsor Castle for the first time since finishing chemotherapy treatment for cancer.
Catherine hosted a meeting related to her Early Years project at the royal estate, according to the Court Circular published on Tuesday evening.
It is the first mention of the Princess of Wales’ official work in the court circular – the public record of the royal family’s engagements – since she began cancer treatment earlier this year.

It states: “The Princess of Wales, Joint Patron, the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, this afternoon held an Early Years Meeting at Windsor Castle.”
Catherine, 42, attended the meeting with members of her household team.
While it is the first official meeting to appear under her name in 2024, the princess was previously noted in the court circular for attending Wimbledon and at Trooping the Colour.
The princess has been working from home, when possible, throughout her treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.

She has made just two public appearances – at Trooping the Colour and Wimbledon – since her diagnosis, which came after she underwent major abdominal surgery in January.
Last week, the princess released a video announcing the end of her chemotherapy and declaring she was “entering a new phase of recovery” in her “complex, scary and unpredictable” cancer journey.
Kate said she was “looking forward to undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months”, but that her focus would be on “doing what I can to stay cancer free”.
The princess said she hoped to attend Remembrance Day commemorations in London with the royal family and her annual carol concert at Westminster Abbey in December.
“My path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” the princess said.
“I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can.”
Her Early Years work has become a key focus of the princess’s royal career.
In January 2023, she launched the Shaping Us campaign which aims to increase public understanding of the crucial importance the first five years of a child’s life.
It was the latest step in Kate’s pioneering work into the early years and childhood development.
The campaign was the first major announcement from The Royal Foundation’s Centre for Early Childhood, which was launched by Kate in 2021.
In June, ahead of her appearance at Trooping the Colour, the princess spoke about the importance of of her work.
“On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home,” she said.
